Cristiano Burani, Roberto Cavalli, Gianfranco Ferre' ... oh my!

As Milan Fashion Week continues to deliver haute looks, I can't help but dream of Spring and Summer. The SS 2013 collections of those in the above referenced title are remarkable. See for yourself. (Photos from the Milan Fashion Week site)

Milan Fashion Week -- The Prada Show

Something very special is in the air at Milan Fashion Week. Floral and Asian designs are taking over and it is incredibly refreshing. There is something very zen, yet at the same time very dramatic, about the looks we're seeing. The Prada show (referred to as the "Haiku Metropolitani") continued the celebration of such looks, and it might have been one of the most successful takes on these concepts. Each and every look was striking and the styling really sealed the deal. See for yourself:

Black Jackets With Leather Details

The title of this blog entry really says it all; black jackets with leather details are a must this fall. I can't escape the trend. On blogs, in magazines, on websites, in stores -- blazers, trenches, bombers, you name it -- this style is everywhere. And it's really quite perfect as the style is incredibly striking. It's the combination of textures that really works and makes the clothing piece more luxe. Best of all, the black jacket with leather details is versatile, having the ability to play edgy or play sleek. Here are a few of my favorite versions of the look (all photos from the Barneys website):

This ICB Leather Bottom Blazer is a stunner. I love how the juxtaposition of the wool and leather resembles a kind of color blocking. And the leather is so hardy -- really excellent quality.

The A.L.C. Lennon Bomber Jacket (featuring leather sleeves) is perfect for the 2012 Fall Season. Bomber jackets are a HUGE trend right now, and this sporty piece carries a sophistication that really amps up a casual look.

This Holmes & Yang Perforated One-Button Blazer with leather trim is classic. It's a staple piece that elevates any outfit -- any wardrobe. And I adore the perforated wool -- very Chanel-esq.

Rag & Bone's Hubert Blazer is so effortlessly chic. I could absolutely see Kate Moss sporting this piece. The hint of leather is impeccable and the slightly shrunker fit is so chic.

This Rick Owens Drawstring Blouson is high fashion. The leather drawstring, the leather dolman sleeves - this piece is flawless. When I think Rick Owens, I think fierce, and I love how this is a softened kind of ferocity.

Last, but not least, this J. Mendel Reversible Bolero jacket is a dream. Such a winner. It's dripping in glamour. And so architecturally successful. I'm just over the moon for this look.

Make Way for this Etro-duction

The first time I saw an Etro magazine ad, I was captivated by the line's use of color (especially purple) and dramatic patterns. Since that first encounter about 5-7 years ago, I've watched the brand expand and blossom into a bit of a of a powerhouse. Its future fate as a leader in the fashion community is undeniable, which leads us to its recent showing at Milan Fashion Week...

The mix of floral and crisp white reminds me of fine china.

For me, these looks are what the Etro brand is all about -- a solid black base serves as the perfect foundation for those splashes of color and life
